FINDING HER LANGUAGE
Shira tells her story about going from a ‘more is more’ mindset to a very minimalistic, but nonetheless expressive one-line approach. One is born an artist, but it takes time and effort to become the artist you were meant to be.
The meaning behind my art is autobiographical. It’s kind of like a journal. I share my emotions and my thoughts on paper or on screen. I love to get inspired by photographs and then add my art to it. Because I feel like I see faces everywhere – so I might as well put it to good use. – Koketit
BECOMING KOKETIT
Her background in fashion design, more specifically fashion illustration, led her down the path off becoming Koketit. Before starting her own business, she gathered experience working as a graphic editor for a fashion magazine As time went by, she felt she needed to go beyond the fashion world.
Starting with selling temporary tattoos, she gradually evolved into an artist as her social media following grew.
FUTURE PROJECTS
It is interesting to see how artists embrace new technologies and experimenting with them. Her next project will include VR glasses making her art a virtual 3d experience.
My work is very intuitive, the less thought the better. I need to be liberated from thought, I need to be free of judgment. And let my hand do all the talking. – Koketit
I find her art to be simple, yet specific. Seeing things differently in the world around you is a powerful gift and others have noticed it.
